What The Gospel IS NOT

The 'Gospel' or at least the 'Gospel according to the New Testament' is salvation the only way it could possibly be accomplished.

Religion...all religions...tell us that we need to reach out to God. And of course in order to do that we need to clean up our act a little (or a lot).

But the true God of creation knows that's impossible.

So God reached out to us. He paid what we could not pay to gain what we could not gain. God is not angry but He is just. And to let mankind off with a capricious wave of His hand and a wink of His eye would be corrupt.

Jesus paid the penalty for our sin so that we could spend eternity in God's presence...instead of eternity separated from His presence.

The Gospel is not another path to God.

It is not about going to church and being good.

It is not about merit at all.

The Apostle Paul put it this way:

"I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die."

Trust Him with your eternal destiny. He's the only One qualified to do anything about it.

Pray this prayer from your heart loud enough so that you can hear your own words.

God, you know me better than I know myself. And You know that I have fallen short of Your righteousness. We all have. But You paid the price of Yourself that I might be set free. I receive that gift by faith now. I am saved, healed, delivered and born from above. I am a child of God and Joint Heir with Jesus Christ. You are now truly my Father and I commit the rest of my life...and beyond...to Your care. Thank You for Your unspeakable gift. Amen.
